War Looks Different This Time

Are we going to have a civil war?
This is it, we are here. We are at war. The government is executing people in the street. Kidnapping and disappearing people from their communities.
There are no soldiers though, just ordinary people.
Who needs a draft when you can breed hate? Who needs tanks in the street when you’ve perfected fear as a weapon? Who needs trained tactical soldiers when you can poison people with a dystopian fiction about their own neighbours, and then send them armed to the teeth and frothing at the mouth into communities.
How can ICE agents not know they are just as expendable as the people they hunt? That they will be tossed out as soon as they are no longer useful to Empire? How can they not see they are fucking storm troopers?
It would seem the hate and fear running through their veins is a potent drug to which they are addicted.
This entire army is terrifyingly constructed by whole identities built solely on who and what they despise rather than who and what they love.
How do you disarm an army of murderous, righteous, addicts? Is there any such reasoning, morality, bids to mercy, humanity, or integrity that can pierce the power of addiction? Is fighting fire with fire the only thing we have left? Do we have to strap them down and force them into withdrawal? And who says that would even work?! None of these are rhetorical questions. We are at war. WE ARE AT FUCKING WAR.
